Fireplace

Fireplace is a circular system for the use and recycling of candles at home where each part has a task, but also a collection of sculptural ceramic objects.

Even though we don’t really need to anymore we use over 20,000 tons of candles in Sweden every year. Considering the need to consume more sustainably, this increasing consumption of an ”unnecessary” product can be seen as a cognitive dissonance. At the same time candles are an everyday luxury and an alternative to other light sources, not least in an energy crisis. Perhaps the candles are important as campfires of our time for hope, and belonging.

The shapes borrow inspiration from ornaments in architecture and fireplaces, and the function of each object is central; The Candelabra, the Warmer, the Melting pot, the Sieve, the Jar, the Clamp and the Candle. The parts can be combined, stacked and separated according to need and mood.
