Arranging disorder

Co-lab with interior architect Anna Ottosson

The objects are alternatives for perfectly ordered flower arrangements. The work started with stoneware clay, a job of several weeks with broken parts and unexpected color. It ended up in the “safe” 3d modelling process with a day´s work, no messy work space and printing that almost managed itself. Both are popular in hand made objects in small scale manufacturing.

The project became a design process in reverse and raised questions around how we value working hours and materials. Is one material more valuable than the other if it is more tactile and complex, or when processed through high tec machines? Can you still see the designers hand in both? Is satisfaction bigger when the process is less controllable and more time consuming even when the result is not what you intended, and does that affect how we look at flaws?

Shown in the exhibition Okay Amazing at Stor studio Malmö, Southern Sweden design Days in may 2022.
